What is an ETA?
An ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is a digital travel permit required for entry into certain countries.
UK ETA: It is not a visa but allows you to travel to the UK, where entry is decided by border authorities.
You can apply for someone else, but you'll need:

What You Can Do with an ETA

Visit the UK for up to 6 months for:

Tourism

Visiting family/friends

Business trips or short-term study

Up to 3 months under Creative Worker visa concession

Permitted paid engagements

Transit through a UK airport (if passing through border control)

What You Cannot Do

Stay longer than 6 months

Work in the UK (unless allowed under specific exceptions)

Claim public funds

Live in the UK through repeated visits

Marry or register a civil partnership (needs different visa)
